THE CITIES

A memory begins, always, with a place.

Every city has a scent. Some stay with you forever.

WHAT HOME SMELLS LIKE

Before you remember the place, you remember the air.

  • Mint tea, poured from high into small glasses.
  • Bread from the ferran, still warm in its cloth.
  • Orange blossom water on your hands at the door.
  • Wood, wax and warm stone, late in the afternoon.

Ghriba keeps those rooms close. Each candle begins with a memory like these, and brings it back for an evening.

THE FOUNDER

“I moved to Amsterdam. The first thing I missed wasn't a place. It was a scent and a feeling.”

Ahmed grew up in Tan-Tan, in the south of Morocco, and went to school in Casablanca. In 2020 he moved to Amsterdam.

Ghriba began there, with a simple wish: to light a candle and be home for an hour.
